A Guide to Online Shopping

Online shopping boasts many appeals, such as greater selection, no crowds to deal with, and the opportunity to find the best price and deal.  Also, it may be your only option if you live in a city with a mall that has headliners such as "Build-a-Bear", "Forever 21", and "Yankee Candle".  Though I love scoring a ring for a dollar at Forever 21, sometimes a girl needs a little more variety and quality in her life.

Learning to shop for deals online can be extremely advantageous.  I have compiled a list of tips below that I use every single time I shop.

1.  Create an email address to be used to keep track of online purchases.  This email address can also be used when signing up for mailing lists that often send out coupons.

2.  Use Ebates!  It is the easiest way to save money on a purchase, each transaction will reward you between 1-10% back in cash!  It is free to sign up and all you have to do is click to the website you are buying from through the Ebates website.  There is also a compilation of promotion codes on the website for many retailers.

3.  Check RetailMeNot for any coupon codes that may grant you free shipping or a percentage off your purchase.  I really try to avoid an online purchase where I have to pay for shipping.

4.  Sign up for the website's mailing list.  Some retailers will immediately send you a coupon to use on your first purchase.

5.  Check out sample sale websites such as:  Gilt, RueLaLa, ideeli, and Beyond the Rack.  These websites often have very popular designer items at incredible prices.

6.  If you love a specific brand of shoes but hate the price, Shop It To Me is perfect for you.  You can enter in any brand, narrow it down to a specific category if you like, enter your sizes, and they will email you when matching items are on sale... anywhere on the internet!

I never shop online without some sort of discount to apply, and the above tips help me with this.  What are some of your standby online shopping tricks to get good deals?
